Jemima Munro - registered with the Health Professions Council
BSc Hons (Phys), SRP, MCSP, MAACP, MOCPPP, COMT

Jemima established Sirius Physiotherapy in 2008. She believes that it is important that every patient is treated individually with each condition or problem being unique in some way and within all her treatments a continuous holistic approach is applied.

Jemima has worked across a broad range of specialist areas and through this has continued to develop her knowledge and skills.

Her specialist areas include:

  • Musculoskeletal rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedics
  • Rheumatology
  • Pain Management
  • Acupuncture
  • Pilates

She has always had a specialist interest in the management of musculoskeletal disorders and before she qualified as a physiotherapist she trained and qualified as a Body Control Pilates Teacher. In 2007 Jemima went to develop her skills further in the treatment of the spine and orthopaedic manual therapy by completing a course in Western Australia with Curtin University and Manual Concepts. There she increased her knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of the spine.

Through her work Jemima has also developed a strong interest in the management of Chronic Pain when working at the Pain Management Unit at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath. This role involved helping patients to return to a functional and fulfilling life despite suffering from chronic pain, a debilitating disorder for many people. Within this role she also gained considerable experience of treating patients, both adolescents and adults suffering from Hypermobility Syndrome.

In 2012 Jemima achieved a lifetime ambition and volunteered and worked at the London 2012 Olympic Games in the Athletes Village Poly Clinic. Here she treated Olympic Athletes from a variety of sports with a huge variety in sporting injuries. This was a fantastic experience and helped further develop her skills in Assessment and Treatment of sports injuries up to an elite level.

As a Musculoskeletal practitioner Jemima uses various manual techniques including Maitland, McKenzie and the Mulligan concept and so can select the most appropriate treatment for the individual patients. To expand her treatment options further she has also complete post-graduate training in acupuncture.

Jemima regularly attends training courses both to further develop her current skills and also to ensure that her knowledge of the continually developing field of physiotherapy is right up to date.

In her spare time Jemima loves spending time with her husband and young daughter dog walking, swimming and playing tennis and relaxing in the pub.
